Beaufort : Depuis Bourg St Pierre

Despite the little snow at low altitude it was a rewarding tour. Feels very remote and alpine and the view from the summit is spectacular.

Patchy snow cover up to about 1800m with some walking. Hard-packed (wind blown) snow even at high altitude. The last 20-30m on foot to the summit (good boot track).

On the way down, at around 1850m we took the snowshoeing trail down to Bourg-St-Pierre. Not recommended as there was even less snow and very icy. Would have been better to stay on the ascent route.

4h to summit, 1h30 down.

High clouds with occasional moderate wind.
