Ofenhorn / Punta d'Arbola : De la Binntalhütte par le Hohsandjoch

Beautiful tour in a remote valley. Incredible summit view in all direction. Only met one group on the Hohsandjoch and another on the summit. Originally, we wanted to try the N-face of the Ofenhorn (also described on C2C), but not even the side-variant (not the couloir) is really feasible. Maybe there is only a lack of snow this season or the glacier melted so much that descends in there a rather a thing of the past.

As we ascended from Fäld on the S-facing side, we had to carry the skis ca. 300m+ up to the snow, but was easy on a good hiking trail. Afterwards hard-packed/icy on the ascend towards Hohsandjoch. At the Hohsandjoch, a fixed rope has been installed on the italian side which makes the short traverse easy (see picture). Last part up to Ofenhorn without major difficulties, but slippery. Descend from Ofenhorn on the NE-face in a slightly steeper variant very nice. From Hohsandjoch to the hut cool spring slush in the afternoon (W-oriented).
