Pointe Marcel Kurz: Traverse from Arolla to Refuge des Bouquetins

Hut ascend day with quite cool N-facing descend in a remote environment. A bit better visibility would have been appreciated, also for the summit view. Only a few other people doing the summit from the italian side. Nicely equipped hut. 10 people in total that night, which was fine but more would get tight.

3.5km of walking needed from the bus stop to reach the first snow. The rest was straightforward, skinning possible to the summit. Descent in variable conditions: nice old powder in the steepest sections of the N-face, quite nice corn at the bottom, annoying breakable crust elsewhere... Unfortunately the ground visiblity was not that good anymore during the descend.

In general warm, but felt quite cold later with wind and clouds Bit windy towards the top Sunny at first, but rapid cumulus formation from ca. 12h
