Bishorn : Normal Route
Route from Zinal into the valley was a nice, solid skin in - a few debris paths but otherwise very good conditions. Nearly enough to convince us a boot-pack was off the cards... but oh were we wrong. Nearly a solid hour of boot-packing across mud and meadows to the big bowl before Roc De La Vache, where we were relieved to put our ski's back on. Snow conditions were good the entire way to the lovely Tracuit hut despite the warm and sunny weather. Snow on the ascent the next morning was firm with crevasses well filled in, but a little too hard for the steepest sections and nearly everyone (us included) used crampons for the final sections. Skied down a slightly rocky couloir to skiers left of the Tracuit hut on the descent rather than down-climb the ascent route... jury was out by the looks of other groups, but we were happy. The walk out, is, well a walk out.
